DMB Continues Tradition of Charity Revitalization Projects
120 volunteers renovate women’s group houses in Mesa, Arizona

On Saturday, April 5, 2008, approximately 120 volunteers of Scottsdale-based DMB Associates, Inc. teamed with Rebuilding Together to make renovations to facilities owned by A&A Cottages in Mesa as part of their annual signature event called National Rebuilding Together Day. A&A Cottages provides foster care, group homes and support services to at-risk teenage girls and young adults who have been subject to abuse and/or neglect. It is the intent of A&A Cottages to empower these young women and help them break the cycle of poverty and violence in their lives.

DMB’s goal is to provide a more livable environment for young women who are trying to change the course of their lives.

The crew of volunteers made various sustainability, cosmetic and quality of life updates to three separate A&A Cottage facilities that include installation of insulation, ceiling fans and water conserving toilets. Service was also conducted on heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units. Volunteers performed a full kitchen remodel, replaced existing carpets with wood flooring, completed interior and exterior paint jobs and did landscaping work. Each location was also provided with two new computers.

“Having been personally involved in DMB’s Rebuilding Together efforts, it is exciting to make sustainability the focus of this year’s project. It seemed a natural fit with Rebuilding Together’s own initiative to bring sustainable solutions for A & A Cottages,” said Dave Hutchinson, director of development for DMB’s latest community located in Mesa, Arizona.

DMB is a diversified real estate investment and development firm that has planned a variety of properties in Arizona, California and Hawaii. Current developments include Mesa Proving Grounds, a 3,200-acre property strategically located near the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa. The company has been participating in Rebuilding Together for sixteen consecutive years.

Rebuilding Together is the nation’s largest volunteer organization preserving and revitalizing homes and communities. Volunteers work in partnership with local community groups, and individual and corporate sponsors to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners, typically elderly and disabled residents.
